In the uppermost photo the statue of the baby Jesus can be seen veiled. In the photo below that the statue can be seen after the veil was removed. In the bottom two photos can be seen an example of a "tridentine" era cotta (circa late sixteenth century model).

This is real Catholicism. UNfortunatly, we don't get it at most USA parishes, or anywhere else.
Pray 2009 brings a mandate from the Pope decreeing allowance for the Tridentine Latin Mass in every parish, on every Sunday- in other words, the novus Ordo scheduel giving way for 1 Tridentine Latin Mass per Sunday all year.
my eyes are tearing up! maybe next year...
little man was impressed with all the candles, esp. the tall ones! please thank christopher for his behind the scenes tour!!
Beautiful Altar, it must have been heavenly. How was the music? The visual and the oral (music and preaching) are, to my way of thinking, the three blessed aspects of divine liturgy. Merry Christmas John, please set up a paypal account so we can send you a little something at Christmas to thank you for all you do for us all year long in bringing this magnificent blog to our homes and hearts.
Joe
Thanks to JP for the inspiring photos.
Buon Natale !
