Lolek the Great: 30 years later...

It was a great honor this morning to pray in the Sistine Chapel and later at the tomb of John Paul II, of blessed memory. The Lord was thanked for a good beginning and a good end to the historic Polish pontificate, of happy memory.

Thirty years ago today was a big day. I was but in the womb. John Paul was elected Supreme Pontiff. From '78 to '05 today was a holiday in the Vatican City State.

1978, the year of three popes. Abortion had just been made legal in Italy. And Aldo Moro and the anni di piombo and fear of Soviet Communism and everything else made it a tough time.

Pastores dabo vobis!
