Conclave 1939. Seated in the Sistine Chapel were all the cardinals. Seated atop this chair was Cardinal Pacelli. It was his birthday. And he was elected Pope!

I had no idea they used such mass produced seats in the Sistine Chapel back then. I thought they used thrones for each Cardinals.
How cool is that to be elected Pope on your birthday!!! God Bless Pope Pius XII, and may be be elevated to Blessed Pius XII soon.
He was a great Pope. In the words of one contributor on a blog (I don't know who), "Pacelli was a Pope who really was born to be Pope, and knew how to Pope."

Sitting on that with a cappa magna!
The chairs were not mass produced. Each was carved with the cardinal's coat of arms.
