nit picker look at the words of Habemus papam, "I announce to you a great joy. We have a pope! His Most Eminent and Reverend Lord, Lord Joseph Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church Ratzinger, etc., etc..." From that you can see that cardinal are referred to as lord. It is not unknown to refer to a cardinal as, "My Lord Cardinal" as an alternative to, "Your Eminence"
