Made in Italy: ornamental needlework...



The look in fashion the past forty years has been the pleated white alb or surplice with the gray hemstitch lines. Now that that perpetuance is finally ending, we can hope for the best: this!

Notice, too, the detachable prelatial ribbons from the amice? In this way the amice can be laundered while the ribbons are simply ironed and saved from the laundry process.

Mmmm... all this lace you're posting lately is inspiring me to knit faster!

(BTW, as I recall there's at least one surplice in San Gregorio with some rather good knitted lace on it. I hope it's still there when I get back to Rome, because I want to get detailed photographs!)
