Autumn has arrived in Rome. Always late, but it's here. If you want to see the colors just take a leisurly stroll around Tiber Island during riposo. On a full stomach just enjoy the crash of the water, the colorful leaves and crisp air and you can even take a nap on the travertine stairs.
Or, on a Saturday just take the bus to Subiaco. There you can walk from one monastery up to the second and see and enjoy all of the many autumn colors. This time of the year they're picking olives off the trees and you can watch the farmers doing that. And be sure to visit the monastery library!
