Two lambs for Feast of Saint Agnes...
This is a photo of myself with the two lucky lambs at the catacombe of Saint Agnes in Rome on her Feast Day. Later in the day the lambs were brought the Pope for a photo op and then to a convent in the Rome neighborhood of Trastevere. They are special because it is from their wool that the new palliums for this year will be made of. The pallium is the most sacred of all vestments and it is only for Metropolitans (Archbishops). Every June, the Pope, on the Feast Day of Sts. Peter and Paul, the Pope places the pallium around the shoulders of the new Metroplitans in which he has named in the past year. Each Metropolitan is then buried wearing this vestment.
