The Catholic family...islands in an unbelieving world?

I love to swing in on the chandelier as a great uncle! Here I am with two of my angels (thanks, but there is no peroxide blonde here!). By Divine Providence, I am both a Godfather and an uncle! The family is the first Church, the "domestic Church." Here's a quote from the new Catechismus Catholicae Ecclesiae (Catechism of the Catholic Church): "In our own time, in a world often alien and even hostile to faith, BELIEVING families are of PRIMARY importance as centers of living, radiant faith. For this reason, the II Vatican Council, using an ancient expression, calls the family the Ecclesia domestica (domestic Church). It is in the bosom of the family that parents are 'by words and example...the first heralds of the faith with regard to their children. They should encourage them in the vocation which is proper to each child, fostering with special care any religioius vocation.'" Let's contribute to our future leadership with some great new priests and nuns, etc., from our great families!
