The motto of His Holiness Pope John Paul II...
When Pope John Paul II, of blessed memory, was consecrated a bishop in the autumn of 1958 A.D., he had to choose an episcopal motto. What was it to be? He chose TOTVS TVVS (Totally Yours). He himself sometimes spoke of how when, as a young teenager in Poland, he had read the book entitled, "True Devotion to Mary," which changed his life. The French author, Saint Louis-Marie Grignon de Montford (1673-1716), had penned: "Totus Tuus ego sum, et omnia mea tua sunt, O Virgo, super omnia benedicta" ("I am all yours; and all that is mine is yours, O Virgin, blessed above all"). Did Karol Jozef Wojtyla mean I am all yours to the faithful, or to the Blessed Lady?
