Lateran Archbasilica: the old altar cards...
These objects are in the wrong place. Today they are located in the Lateran tesoro, but they are to be used as a part of our living tradition.
We are not a Church of just archaeologists and museums but instead a living Church with a living tradition.
Were all of our liturgical objects just made for museums or no? Brings to mind the phrase of the poet Rainer Maria Rilke, as we are to become "seekers of the inner future...[of the] past."
