Usus Antiquior as seen in Switzerland...


From the Canton of Ticino in the Swiss Alps: Don Jeffry Moore, an American cleric, celebrates Holy Mass according to the usus antiquior in the old papal collegio founded by Pope Gregory XIII some four-hundred years ago.

Is that a cardinal's biretta in the up-left corner of the picture? Is that St. Charles' biretta?

Yes it is. St. Charles left Collegio Papio on October 31st 1584 and was ill and his assistants forgot to take his biretta. In Italian the term biretta means a small beer. They use the term "beretta" for a clerical hat. don Jeffry
