Sorry, but I think this "throne" is gaudy beyond belief. It looks as though it was thrown (pun intended) together with some left over craps from a garage sale.
I don't think it's gaudy at all. Very Italian style..very Roman Catholic which is what we are....not Episcopalians, Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians, Baptists..or (GOD FORBID!!!), THE SAME RELIGION as Sarah Palin....Pentecostolist Christians !!! (ugh).
We're Catholics. And all of this is representative of Roman Catholicism....not the bare-bones striped down to nothing Catholicism we've gotten since Vatican II...but ROMAN CATHOLCISM...as it has been for centuries, and little by little will be again.
Gaudy? I'd rather have this, than the sterility of a Congregationalist or Baptist Church.
*We have a fiarly nice Cardinal/Archbishop throne in the Basilica of SS Peter and Paul in Philadelphia, which by the way is getting a huge overhaul...and is getting a tremendous amount of decoration to look really Catholic.
Gone are the ridiculous Vatican II era banners, and mod simplistic sculptures and mosaics. In are replicas of Baroque Catholicism.
About time too.
