Compared to that of the universal Church, the Diocese of Rome has a much richer liturgical calendar. On Wednesday we will celebrate the feast of (our beloved) Pio Nono. This is a photo of his tomb behind the grill at the Basilica of San Lorenzo near Roma Termini.
Blessed Pius IX, pray for us!

Thanks very much for this. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't even know what my favorite pope's feast day is. I have the date marked on my calendar now for next year.
