Good news from San Giovanni Fiorentini...
This photo was taken just this morning. Under the direction of the rector, hired employees tore out in big pieces the entire goofy eighties stage platform that had been set in front of the sanctuary for years. Needless to say, it's a big improvement. The portable altar still remains, albeit now on the original marble floor. Now let's just hope they do the same at the Chiesa Nuova and restore these churches to the intended baroque!

Wow! That's excellent! I used to walk next to that church every day. Let's hope that many of the other churches in Rome will follow suit!
Let's first hope that they drag out that hideous stage/platform in St. Peter's Basilica built over the Confessio. When will they realize that all the Papal ceremonies should take place on the other side of the altar?
John, can you get this message translated into Italian and sent to the Chiesa Nuova?
