An unforgettable day in the hills just north of Rome. Many thanks to His Grace Raymond Burke who was the ordaining prelate as well as to the Father Founder Padre Stefano Maria Manelli and to all the priests, brothers and sisters of the Missionari dell'Immacolata. Hearty congrats!
See their site here: http://www.immacolata.com/.
Fresh air to see more Gothic.
Don't be surprised if in 10 years, this magnificent Order which has recently returned to using only the Tridentine Latin Mass of our Holy Catholic Church, has more members world wide than the smallest of the 4 major branches of the Franciscan family of friars:
Friars Minor (OFM), today, roughly 14,000 (more than 28,000 before Vatican II)
Friars Minor Conventual (from which the Franciscans of the Immacolata came orignally): about 4,200 today (5,500 before Vatican II)
Friars Minor Capuchin (OFM. Cap., which gave us the great St. Pio of Pietralcina), roughly 10,300 today (nearly 16,000 before Vatican II)
and lastly, the Franciscans Third Order Regular Friars (T.O.R.): roughly 780 members today (1,850 before Vatican II)
Look for the Franciscan Friars of the Immacolata to be close to or passed the TOR's in 10 years.
Thanks for posting this...will spread the word to my list and blog. This is part of the quiet revolution that Summorum Pontificum has made possible, an almost hidden part of it, but perhaps the most important.
