Labor pro Fide: da due anni...

Happy birthday today to Papa Wojtyla...and to this blog (a.k.a. der spawn).
Orbis Catholicus was launched at an internet point along the Tiber River two years ago today. The vast majority of these blog entries were posted at Rome's Jesuit University, the Gregoriana (from the secondo piano aula that's empty every afternoon).
Il blog won't be around forever, so if you like any of these pics just save them to your own computers before it's all gone with the wind. Intanto, I carry all of your intentions to the tombs of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul atop the soil on which they trod. Oremvs!

When is the official cutoff? Are you still considering the "cardinal's snuffbox"?

Do not even dare contemplating the closing of THE blog... contrariis nonobstantibus quibuscumque.

John, please don't close down, this is the best blog from the Eternal City out there!

Oh No....

Take a break if you need to, but please don't go! Those of us stuck on the North American continent, with dreams of getting to Roma some day (not only for the Churches, my family comes from the area) need to live through your blog vicariously!

Seriously, barring Powerball winnings (highly unlikely) I won't be able to get to Rome until sometime around 2029. If I live that long (and Italy isn't officially called Italistan by then). Please don't quit...

Keep posting pics. Love 'em. Keeps me in touch with Rome.

John, what are you talking about? By the Apostolic Authority vested in Us by Our Roman birth, accent and culinary tastes and need of good blogging We declare and proclaim: Semo on nun semo Romani!?! Faie vedè chi ssei! (or: "When the going gets tough, the tough get going!") And if anyone will dare say anything to the contrary, anathema sit!

The pictures and stories here are lovely and informative. I hope you keep the site up for as long as you can.

John, I love your posts -- please keep the blog up! It's a wonderful window into the Eternal City's happenings, and Blogdom will be the poorer without it.

Sta, mane, mi amice!

Unless and until you can guarantee me a job in Rome, I'll consider you morally obligated to continue the blog so that I can vicariously live through you :)

Seriously, do what you have to do, but I would consider your absence from the blogosphere to be a major lacuna

It's true all things are passing away (eventually) ... but there's no need to rush things. Keep blogging, the photos bring back beautiful memories and/or are very interesting.

I agree! Please don't close it.

John! It is your Catholic duty to stay online! The Catholic presence will be diminished in the ether, and will make way for one more grubby page!

Plus, you will cause an irreparable tear in the space/time continuum of truly cataclysmic proportions and then where would we all be?! :c)

Honestly John, you should stay put… for the love of God & of souls!

John:
I read from NY, USA and have your site bookmarked on several computers as well as my iPhone which I often read while on the train going home. Keep up the excellent work. Your viewpoint and coverage are both unique and inspiring. Keep up the great work.

There is a great need for education and good catechesis which you are providing - knowing it or not.

The postings are wonderful and truly are a great link to the One True Catholic Ecclesia -if you do wish to make a new site which might even be more illuminating of the glory of God and the church, this could be allowed, but I would agree that it would be overly hasty to get rid of most of
what you have here and delete the beautiful photographs and comments.
Happy anniversary and

John!!!

Please!! Please ! Please! For the sake of those of us (and there are many) who dream of returning one day to the Eternal City and our Glorious Catholic Heritage, but who have to keep dreaming for a few years yet, keep your blog alive!!

Ok, you might not be able to post so often, but please don't take the blog down.

With kind wishes, prayers and thanks for all your good work.

Greetings from the confluence of the Mississippi and the Minnesota!

I'm late but I really enjoy the photos on this blog. I lurk but I visit! You've been on my 'roll since my blog started over a year ago.

I understand if you have to stop, but you will be missed.

You are in my prayers.

Thank you.

Keep the blog going. My reasons are purely selfish, however, in that I need motivation to return to Rome some day.

Marvellous website. Would be very sorry to see it close.
