Roma Festival Barocco: Sung Pontifical Mass...

With nonchalance we were all there, but it was an enviable privilege and we all do feel blessed.

Here I am with my roommate just before the arrival of His Eminence. Who would have thought that the Holy Ghost would take two guys - us - from the Midwest and bring us to Rome to serve as Christ's page at the altar for a Solemn Pontifical High Mass sung in the Tridentine rite?! This is lay involvement in the liturgical context...

Bella, nice to hear from you! Der Scratch-Monkey says to visit us soon so welcome!

Yes, we are laymen. In Catholic countries, on the Italian peninsula and in the Diocese of Rome there are different liturgical perogatives (=customs and the like, many with the force of law). This is the custom here as in other pockets of the world (albeit never in our Calvinist America...).
