April 18 - May 3 Art Exhibit in Rome...

Our good Italo-American friend, M.B., just commissioned a new portrait of the Pope done according to the old traditional scheme of papal portraits - something which is sadly not really seen anymore even in Rome. The artist is Andrei Dubinin, a native of Belarus. Soon this extraordinary painting will be unveiled and we all await this event with eager anticipation.

Meanwhile, the Fondazione Ducci is hosting an exhibition of the work of this same artist at the Roman Basilica of the SS. Apostoli this coming Friday, April 18, at 6 p.m. (in the Sala dei Refettorio). All are welcome.

The subject of this exhibition is the twelve apostles at the Last Supper. His series of paintings show the apostles and the Coena Domini by focusing, uniquely, on the hands. Today it is rather exceptional that a contemporary painter in Europe - figurative - should conceive a whole series of religious paintings!

They are very striking and intense paintings, and certainly very original. Great to see contemporary religious paintings such as these of such high artistic quality, a rarity nowadays. The opening of the exhibition will be preceded by a concert.

I would like to get a large poster-size version of this portrait to frame.
