Papal Vestments: Pius XI in Lateran Palace...

I don't remember this statue .. is Pius XI vested for Mass ? He appears to be wearing the fanon over a Roman chasuble and pontifical dalmatic, but it's difficult to tell in marble !

This is the funerary monument funded by the cardinals "ab eo creati"and originally in the niche next to the altar containing the relics of Bl. Clement XI (accross from Pius XII). It was replaced with the current bronze monument in the 60s, and transfered to the Lateran Palace. Something about architectural harmony.

yes, this is the fanon. this statue is not seen by the public, but it is fantastic.
