Faithful reader of your blog. I'm curious about the first picture in this post...the men walking up the steps on either side are dressed in a way that I've never seen. Who are they? Black boots, rosary, etc.
They are the Heralds of the Gospel, mostly from Brazil, Spain and Portugal. Lots of them show up in Rome for Holy Week as well as for the Corpus Christi procession with the Pope.
