The return of the precious mitre...

I took this photo last Sunday (Divine Mercy Sunday). I was excited to see the return of the precious mitre (last seen on a pope in 1978?). Anways, the Monsignor looked great in the rochet, too.

Yes, it was lovely to see the Holy Father in that mitre and his assistants in rochets... except shouldn't they have also worn the mantelleta?

I don't know how ligit the website is that is posting the following photos but I think that the photos are ligit in showing PJII post 78. I'm not sure if there are different types and I'm just not getting the details here. Let me know. Thanks.

Isn't Pope Wojtyla wearing a precious mitre - it is adorned with gemstones - in this photo? http://www.catholicpressphoto.com/servizi/05-01-01-messa/images/prevs/050101cpp13.jpg

Has Gänswein the right to wear the rochet? Why? And yes, if he has, he has certainly either forgotten the mozzetta, mantelletta, or even a cotta on top of it.

All mitres worn in the Novus Ordo by the main celebrant (bishop!!) is the mitra preciosa. It has NEVER mattered if it really is precious or not.

ganswein is a prelate of honour and therefore entitled to the use of the rochet as part of choir dress or opt for the surplice as has been the unfortunate custom since the marini era began!!!
