From Rome: footprint of devil...

This photo was taken in the rear of the the Ara Coeli church on the Capitoline Hill. Legend has it that it's the print of the devil...
Does anyone know the full story here? I asked the porter in the gift shop but he evidently was not a believer.

I have seen this foot print of the devil when I went to Rome as a little boy, now I am in Kenrick-Glennon Seminary studying for the great Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Here's the story: As the Church was being consecrated, and insence was being used throughout the Church to cast out any demons (for it used to be a Roman temple), there suddenly was a loud cry. The bishops and all the clergy turned to see where it had come from. The devil himself appeared at the end of the Church near the front entrance and pressed his foot into the marble, making a perminant mark. After he had done this, the devil flew out of the Church through the front entrance, never to be seen again.
