Feast of St. Nicholas in Rome...


In Rome when a cardinal sings Pontifical Mass in his titular church he uses the throne (otherwise the faldstool). In the following photos you can see how this throne was put together.
Notice the crimson damask here from c. 1958 - with the coat-of-arms of Pope John XXIII (a.k.a. "Bubbles").
