Hummmm, having known many Redemptorists over the years it appears to me that the rosary is on wrong. It's in the shape of an M (for Mary) and on the left side of the body as it should be but the part that is under the cincture should be on top of the cincture. This is a little different. Curious.
whether worn correctly or not, its good to see this beautiful habit on young members of the Redemptorist order. I hope that its a sign things are turning around with them.
Are the Sons of the Holy Redeemer (formally the Transalpine Redemptorists) the only Traditional group of Redemptorists. If so these priests would be Novus Ordo right ?
The brazilian Redemptorists from Aparecida and Trindade (administratos of great and popular brazilian Basilicas) use their habit, even on television (the have many TV programs here)!
Yes. The Sons of the Holy Redeemer are the only traditionalist Redemptorists.
IN that traditionally/historically the Redemptorists didn't live in individual "hermitages", the Sons of the Holy Redeemer on Papa Stronsay Island are not real Redemptorists.
Too bad a traditionalist branch of the Redemptoristine nuns doesn't exist. These cloistered nuns had the most unique and beautiful habit for cloistered Orders in the whole Church. But I'm sure there were/are others equally as beautiful and unique.
I doubt that these guys are FSSR. They are also missing their habit crucifix. It's a crucifix held in an inside pocket and with a cord around th neck. The Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer are VERY traditional and wouldn't leave out that part of the habit as some of the more liberal CSSR's would be prone to do. But it is refreshing to see them walking the streets of Rome with the habit on. God bless 'em!
Well, the more I look at this picture the more I wonder who these guys are. The reason they don't wear the rosary correctly is becasue the cincture is way too wide to accomodate the correct form. The traditional cincture is only two or three inches wide. Also, I see these men are sporting rings on their right ring fingers. (Unless the picture is reversed and it's actually their left hands). I've never seen Redemptorists wearing rings. Might be some type of memorial ring.
